Hierarchical Spatial Data Structures
نویسنده
چکیده
An overview is presented of the use of hierarchical spatial data structures such as the quadtree. They are based on the principle of recursive decomposition. The focus is on the representation of data used in image databases. The emphasis is on twodimensional regions, points, rectangles, and lines.

Using Hierarchical Spatial Data Structures for Hierarchical Spatial Reasoning
This paper gives a definition of Hierarchical Spatial Reasoning, which computes increasingly better results in a hierarchical fashion and stops the computation when a result is achieved which is ‘good enough’. This is different from standard hierarchical algorithms, which use hierarchical data structures to improve efficiency in computing the correct result. An algorithm on hierarchical spatial...
متن کاملSpatial Data Structures
An overview is presented of the use of spatial data structures in spatial databases. The focus is on hierarchical data structures, including a number of variants of quadtrees, which sort the data with respect to the space occupied by it. Such techniques are known as spatial indexing methods. Hierarchical data structures are based on the principle of recursive decomposition. They are attractive ...
متن کاملSpectral-spatial classification of hyperspectral images by combining hierarchical and marker-based Minimum Spanning Forest algorithms
Many researches have demonstrated that the spatial information can play an important role in the classification of hyperspectral imagery. This study proposes a modified spectral–spatial classification approach for improving the spectral–spatial classification of hyperspectral images. In the proposed method ten spatial/texture features, using mean, standard deviation, contrast, homogeneity, corr...
متن کاملVisualising Uncertainty in Spatially-Referenced Attribute Data using Hierarchical Spatial Data Structures
This paper presents the use of hierarchical spatial data structures to visualise uncertainty in spatial information. This is demonstrated using spatial data from the New Zealand 2001 Census. Current visualisation of uncertainty techniques are evaluated, and a new method is proposed. This paper assesses the value of hierarchical tree structures as a geovisualisation of attribute uncertainty tech...
متن کاملAn Overview of Hierarchical Spatial Data Structures
An overview, with an emphasis on recent results, is presented of the use of hierarchical spatial data structures such as the quadtree. They are based on the principle of recursive decomposition. The focus is on the representation of data used in image databases. There is a greater emphasis on region data (i.e., 2-dimensional shapes) and to a lesser extent on point, curvilinear, and 3-dimensiona...
